The Billet Box Rabbit Hole, I’ve Fallen In… Deep!
The phrase “Billet Box Rabbit Hole” seems to be a common phrase in the Billet Box Community and it’s a real thing. You can spend a lot, fast when you jump in. I am no different than many others. I have jumped deep into this Rabbit Hole already.
Just 2 days ago, while waiting on a new stab wood mod from MK Mods and the new Monarchy drop, the Lazy King, I saw a Billet Box for sale post in the HEAT Facebook group and loved the way the particular set up looked. It sold super fast, but it had me looking around to get my own Billet Box.
In the past, I was not interested in Billet Box. They looked awesome, but the options for rebuildable coils were limited. I never gave the Billet Box a chance. For the last few years, I have used mostly Hussar and Monarchy RDAs and RTAs as well as one of my long-time favorites, the Kayfun. I am a low wattage vaper, but not a big MTL fan. I typically build at .6 to 1.2 ohms and rarely will you see my wattage over 20 watts.
Well, I spent that evening joining groups and watching for Billet Boxes to pop up for sale. I started reaching out to friends like Monarch Andrzej for information. Other than YouTube videos, I couldn’t find much information. I spent a lot of time looking for the right Billet Box to purchase. Right before I went to bed at 4am, I found a classified ad on buy/sell/trade website where the guy was selling out his entire authentic mod collection.
He had two Billet Boxes listed, a black 2017 Rev.4B~60 and a blue Rev.4B~40 listed. I sent him a message to ask about the condition and price and was surprised to hear that they were literally unused and the prices were well below retail and obviously lower than Facebook for sale prices. I quickly started reaching out to people to verify that I wasn’t about to buy a clone. The lack of markings on the button side had me concerned, but with the help of Kris Milic and others, I learned that the logo and year started in 2018. These boxes were legit.
I made a lower offer and he accepted.
The journey begins! That was the beginning of day 1, it got worse. I jumped into the rabbit hole full speed. I had to start customizing right away right?
The 1st line of business was getting some bridges for so I can start building my own coils. I searched for new and used Bridg’d and VapeSnail bridges, but had no luck. Since I have a few boxes of Vapresso EUC coils that I purchased for the Lazy King that I have on the way, I decided to find a bridge to use those coils. I found a KRV EUC bridge on Innovapes as well as a VapeShell, so I ordered them both. Props to Innovapes for doing a great job verifying my age. I am still on the hunt for a Bridg’d, but I am in no hurry.
Next up is to replace those bright, non-matching, stainless steel screws. I found a great site in the US that has quite a few screw choices, Vape Haven. While I was making my choices on colors, I headed over to their Facebook page to ask which of the blue colors would look good with that 2016 I bought and happened to see this post. It was only posted a few minutes prior. I jumped all over that deal. I wanted to grab a Mission Switch but didn’t think I would be able to find one. I definitely lucked out. After Greg suggested a color, I bought that bundle and 3 sets of screws!
All I need now is panels and colored BOROS now right?

Later that day, I was checking out Mums Fantasy Factory and picked out a couple of boros for the black and blue Billet Boxes, but didn’t pull the trigger on any panels. The panels that come with that Mission switch will do for now.
This was all day one of my Billet Box Rabbit Hole Dive!
