What better way to start our series of Let’s Talk articles, than with an epic interview Boutique Crew?

Our very own resident Billet Swagstar and fellow Boutique founder, Stephen Sculley recently had the chance to spend some time talking with the legend who is Sway Medina. Sway is the owner and chief artisan of Billet accessory brand, KONTRL.

Famous in underground Billet circles for some of the most epic doors to grace a mod, this conversation is a rare insight into exactly what makes the man tick. So, Let’s Talk to Sway Medina folks.

Stephen – Hey Sway, tell the folks here how this all began?

Sway – I started KONTRL in 2016. It was the first set of panels with any type of buttons or cutouts on the panel, the first set was called “JUST.CLIC”Let me find a photo for you..

Stephen – Now we are talking, this is great stuff – and I remember you telling me about your design work and photograpy pre KONTRL?

Sway – Yeah, I’ve been shooting for around 10 years. After about a month of the “JUST.CLIC” I redesigned it and thats were it became KONTRLI made a set with adjustable airflow, those were called “JUST.FLO”… A lot of the products had ‘JUST’ in the name, it was kind of my brand, my IG name was just.vape

Stephen – Where do you draw inspiration from? and if you could change anything about the vape industry, what would it be? If you had a crystal ball, what does the future of KONTRL look like?

Sway – Hhhhmmmmm… good questions I honestly don’t know where the inspiration comes from, I’m just always thinking of something new, most nights I literally can’t sleep cause I lay there thinking…. if I was to change something from the vape industry I think it would be all the negative press/media we get, I’ve recently been seeing little digs against the industry thrown into shows/movies, kinda brainwashing people… as for the future of KONTRL…. I don’t know man, I just wanna keep creating, I just really enjoy creating things that others can enjoy, the feeling is awesome.
